Shiftyness in the Accounting Department

I have been at my job now just under 3 months. This past week we hired a new accounts payable person. But she isn’t picking up our process or how we do things quickly enough. She keeps asking the same questions over and over again, not being able to retain any info. So after I was done doing my bank run on Friday, I came back in and saw basically the accounting department in the Conference room. I wasn’t told to come in, Im just an accounting assistant basically, but I thought they would still tell me to come in. So when the meeting thing was over the accounts receivable girl was upset. She was on the verge of tears. I asked her if she was ok, she just shook her head. Then I asked her what was going on, she still shook her head. So I don’t know what is going on. I was thinking that they are going to let the new girl go because she is so slow. BUT TODAY, Sunday, September 24, 2006 , I went on Craigslist.com because I am still “CASUALLY” looking for an advertising job. And out of habit I still look at the administration positions. And when I looked at it today, I saw this :

“ESTABLISHED CHERRY HILL COMPANY LOOKING FOR HELP WITH ACCOUNTS PAYABLE, RECEIVABLE AND PURCHASE ORDER ENTRY. MUST BE PROFICIENT WITH COMPUTERS AND ABLE TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY. CASUAL, NON SMOKING OFFICE. MONDAY-FRIDAY 8:30 AM TO 5:00 PM BENEFITS AFTER 90 DAYS

• Job location is CHERRY HILL
• Compensation: $25,000.00 PER YEAR “

So, me being suspicious in nature and I jump to conclusions easily I started to look at this more closely. This is how similar my job is to this ad.

1. I work in Cherry Hill
2. I make $25K/year
3. I work in accounting
4. I assist receivables and am basically a file clerk
5. everything that is going on with the new girl
6. I’m thinking they are trying to minimize the position and combine my job and the payable job into one person.

Meaning-there will be a file clerk but the Account payable person will only do maybe 1/4 or 1/3 of the payable stuff.

It’s not like I’m upset really. I don’t really like the job. I’m still looking for another job in advertising. But for them to have a meeting and not invite me in, or not to tell me afterwards is just shady and so unprofessional.

Whatever, maybe if or when I get laid off I will then be a real person. I can join the club of the unemployed and the first time fired people.

Wouldn’t it just be so weird if I did find out I was losing my job through Craigslist? What a way to find out.

Im Just a Paranoid girl. It’s not my job. The discussion in the conference room was nothing more than the bosses asking how she was doing. The new girl herself closed the doors so no one could hear what was going on. And apparently she yelled or said loudly that  “I’m new of course I’ll be slow in the beginning!”

So she is sort of known as “The Bitch”. I dunno I don;t have an qulams about her. But some other people do.
